Background and Experience
Alexander Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki constitutes one of the largest educational institutes in Greece and its Research Committee is legally responsible for the financial management of all types of funds for research, educational training, technological development and continuing education projects, and for providing scientific, technological and other related services or activities that contribute to linking education and research with industrial production and practical implementations. During the past years, numerous of researchers have provided educational and research services in collaboration with external scientific associates for the implementation of International, European and National Research and Technological Development (RTD) projects. The Department of Civil Engineering, with its thriving educational and research activity has contributed significantly to both national economy and rural development of Greece, as well as to sciences and technology worldwide. Civil Engineering Department’s educational and research interests include, besides the construction section, the environmental aspect of both terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, through the implementation of Environmental impact assessments and biomonitoring programs. The department of Civil Engineering has successfully passed its external evaluation and is included in a quality assurance program.
