Marine sediment transport including desk studies, numerical and physical modelling of marine sediment transport, seabed scour and seabed morphology. Coastal zone studies including the assessment, numerical and physical modelling of coastal scour, beach response and coastal erosion. Development and application of coastal profile models. Application of systems models to large-scale long-term coastal behaviour. Development of model validation techniques. Research experience including contributions to EPSRC, Defra, Environment Agency and EC-funded research projects including work on coastal hydrodynamics, scour, broad-scale sediment transport and morphology, the development of physical modelling techniques and beach management. Author of 70 research papers and reports, including peer-reviewed journal papers and contributions to CIRIA’s Beach Management Manual (Second Edition) and the IAHR monograph A Users Guide to Hydraulic Modelling and Experimentation. Coordinator of the IAHR Working Group on Composite Modelling (2009 – 2013) Member of the Scientific Advisory Committee for the CoastLab conferences in 2010 (Barcelona) & 2012 (Ghent). Associate editor for the Proceedings of the 34th IAHR World Congress, Brisbane, 2011.
